Project 03: Genius Loci
Phase One
We are asked to capture the Genius Loci, the spirit of a place into a 10-15 second video clip. We needed to be able to make the viewer feel the spirit/atmosphere that we wanted to give the viewer. The feeling of the clip can be anything from relaxed to stressed or even from a safe feeling to a lost feeling.
With the help of different kind of filming, cuts, lighting and noises we can emphasise the feeling (Genius Loci) that we want to give viewer.
The brief consist of two parts, Phase One, where we are asked to film the 10-15 second film and publish it to Vimeo once done.
We have been given a task to look for a specific place with a Genius Loci. The place can either be something we see in our everyday life example; our own home, the tube station or university, or then it can be something more “exotic” like an abandoned house, a specific beach or something totally different like the atmosphere in our
own fridge.
